Mission

To help transform crazy ideas into kick-ass products

You know the ones, where you say, "it's so crazy, it just might work." Those ones.

I'm here to support those early in the development process, to help them dream big and turn those ideas into brilliant, tactile designs for their future customers.

Passion & Expertise

My expertise lays in the knowledge of how things are made, who buys them, and the passion to improve on them.

I've worked on hundreds of projects, have been named on around a dozen patents, and have contributed to many more. See my Showcase for few favourite examples of the type of products I like to work on.

Lucas Lastman is a Melbourne-based Industrial Designer, with 19 years in the Industrial Design and Product Development industry.

After graduating from Monash University in 2005, Lucas went on to cut his teeth with German multinational, Siemens VDO (now Continental AG), working on the styling, mechanical design and UX development of instrument clusters for Ford, GM Holden, Toyota and BMW Motorrad.

Lucas moved to his first consulting role in 2007 in bustling Cremorne, where he supported a range of Australian brands including Sabco, NHP, Breville and GMC Tools to name a few.

Then in 2009, an opportunity presented to continue development of a power tool storage system that he had started work on back in 2004. Over a period of nearly three years, the team designed, built, tested, and launched BluCave, a completely new brand and revolutionary concept in power tool design and flatpack storage, into Bunnings Australia, Mitre 10 New Zealand, and European retailers.

Following the successful launch, Lucas and the team branched out in June 2013, to support some amazing global brands including ARB 4x4, Black + Decker, Bosstab, Chamberlain, CSBP, Orica, OX Tools, Parkside, Qube and many more.

During his career, Lucas has supported the development of hundreds of projects, been named on numerous patents, and contributed to the successes of many clients.

Now, in 2024, Lucas is excited to be setting up a new studio, focused on helping founders and businesses transform their crazy ideas into market-leading products, driven by best-in-class customer experience.

Lucas enjoys working directly with his clients, for the most streamlined and effective workflows, and collaborates with a close-knit team of trusted suppliers and partners to deliver a personalised and thorough industrial design service for his clients.
